San Jose Police Arrest Woman Suspected In Fatal Machete Attack

SAN JOSE (CBS SF) – Police arrested a San Jose woman Saturday in connection with a machete attack that left another San Jose woman dead Friday night, police said.

Homicide investigators have arrested 40-year-old Sagal Mohamod Sadiq of San Jose on suspicion of murdering the still unidentified victim in the case.

Police said that Sadiq was originally thought to be a victim, but police claim she used a machete-type edged weapon to murder the victim. Police have not identified a motive in the case and have not determined the exact relationship between Sadiq and the victim.

Sadiq has been booked into Santa Clara County Jail on suspicion of homicide.

Police originally received a call from a residence in the 1900 block of Johnston Avenue around 11 p.m. Arriving officers found the victim and Sadiq suffering from injuries.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene and Sadiq was taken to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

This marks San Jose's 39th homicide of the year.
