Oakland Reports First Homicide Of 2012

OAKLAND (CBS / AP) -- Police said a 19-year-old Oakland man was shot and killed Wednesday night, making him the city's first homicide of the year.

An Oakland police spokesman said when officers responded to a report of gunshots on the 1800 block of East 25th Street around 8:45 p.m. they found Isaac White suffering from several gunshot wounds.

He was taken to a hospital, where he died of his wounds.

A reward of up to $10,000 is being offered by Oakland police and Crime Stoppers of Oakland for information leading to the arrest and conviction of a suspect in the case.

The fatal shooting comes after Oakland recorded 110 homicides last year, marking the first increase in slayings in the city after four years of declining totals.
