2 Outages In San Francisco Leave 1000s In The Dark

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- Two separate power outages in San Francisco left thousands of PG&E customers in the dark Monday night, a utility spokeswoman said.

The first outage was reported at 9:16 p.m. and initially impacted 5,557 customers, spokeswoman Jana Morris said.

That outage was caused by a car crashing into a pole in the 400 block of West Portal Avenue, Morris said.

The number of customer affected was down to 89 as of 11 p.m. and the remaining impacted customers were expected to have service restored by 11:30 p.m.

At 10:06 p.m. a second outage was reported near Pacific Avenue and Lyon Street, Morris said.

The second outage was affecting 332 customers as of 11 p.m.

Information regarding the cause of the outage and the time of restoration was not immediately available.
