SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) – An ex-girlfriend of San Francisco Sheriff Ross Mirkarimi, who has been accused of abusing his wife by bruising her arm in an incident on New Year’s Eve, has told police Mirkarimi was also allegedly abusive toward her when they were dating.

The woman, who requested in the police report to remain anonymous but has been identified in interviews with media outlets as Christina Flores, filed a police report (.pdf) at the San Francisco Police Department’s Northern Station on Sunday afternoon.

She told police she met Mirkarimi at the Haight Street fair in June 2007 and dated him until December 2008. During that time, she said, Mirkarimi showed a “raging pitbull aggressiveness,” according to the police report.

In one incident, she told police, he pinned her against a wall and shook her, bruising her upper arm.

The report states that the relationship ended after Mirkarimi confessed that he had been seeing a woman from Venezuela and that the other woman was pregnant.

The report states that the alleged victim said she didn’t come forward at the time because she felt humiliated, but filed the report now in light of the current domestic violence case against Mirkarimi.

Mirkarimi, 50, made a court appearance Monday morning and had a trial date set for the domestic violence case.

He will go on trial on Feb. 24 on three misdemeanor charges of domestic violence battery, child endangerment and dissuading a witness. He pleaded not guilty to the charges last Thursday.

KCBS, CBS 5 and SF Chronicle Insider Phil Matier Comments:

Mirkarimi will next be in court this Thursday, when his attorney Bob Waggener will argue for the removal of a stay-away order that is preventing him from contacting his wife Eliana Lopez and the couple’s 2-year-old son Theo.

Lopez denied being abused by her husband at last week’s arraignment and also asked for the stay-away order to be lifted.

Prosecutors had sought the order, citing an arrest warrant affidavit in which Mirkarimi is accused of leaving a bruise on Lopez’s right bicep during an argument on New Year’s Eve.

Lopez told a neighbor, who has since been identified as Ivory Madison, about the incident and Madison called police after taking a video of Lopez, who said Mirkarimi had threatened to take Theo away and had told her he “is very powerful and can do it,” according to the affidavit.

Mirkarimi did not speak during this morning’s hearing, but his attorney Waggener said outside of court that “this is one of the more overblown cases I’ve seen.”

Along with the Feb. 24 trial date, a pre-trial conference was set for Feb. 16, and there will be a Jan. 30 hearing on evidence issues in the case. Mirkarimi was excused from attending that hearing.

Mirkarimi was sworn in as sheriff on Jan. 8 after serving for seven years on the San Francisco Board of Supervisors.

Come on Mayor enough is enough, act now and remove him before Gloria Allred gets involved and the city becomes a real embarrassment.

  3. NRA Life Member says:

No surprise. Just another wanna-be thug. Wake up mayor!

As far as Ban Francisco becoming “a real embarrassment”, it has been California’s primary embarrassment for the last thirty years. It will continue to be unless the voters elect some people with common sense.

  4. s.f. peaches says:

Sheriff Mirkarimi is refusing to behave responsibly. Guilty or innocent, he should take time off from his job while there are charges against him. He is showing a lack of respect for the office to which he was elected. The way things are going, we shouldn’t be surprised if if there’s a recall attempt.

  5. Roger Craig says:

Get the bum out of office Mayor……

  6. Better off says:

Abusers do NOT change. The victims often don’t speak up, many out of fear and others because they think they “love” the jerk. And yes I do speak from experiance. There was no fear and the love disappeared just as fast as the divorce happened.

  7. victor says:

    Do not believe her.

  8. D'nini says:

Mayor Lee refers to Mirkarimi as an elected official. I’m confused. I was not aware that a mayor had the power to suspend, or remove an elected official from office. Can someone set me straight on this. I think Mirkarimi should step down as he obviously has an anger problem & a dangerous one at that.

    1. I dunn know says:

I going to set you straight alright, you are as dumb and confused as they come.

  9. Alvin A says:

I’d like to thank all you unfalable commenters who, despite the fact that you do not have all the true facts before you you have decided to skip the whole “innocent until proven guilty” thing. It must be nice to be God. The evidence I’ve seen so far is anything but conclusive. This second woman is just plain old lying for publicity and/or proftit. I am from a family that had the type of husband on wife abuse that the spousal abuse laws were made for. I’m sick and tired of every minor touch is being considered “abuse”. And I know for a fact there would be a history of wounds and doctor visits by the wife. All we have is “a bruise”. Even his wife is being insulted by you all calling her a liar when she deny’s that she was abused. How do any of you know what really is going on. Were you there? Do you know them or the neighbor–the neighbor could be a nut case. The idea that a person should lose their job as punishment before being convicted, beyond a reasonable doubt, is abhorant. The post that starts off “Abusers do not change..” is just one of the clear ignorant postings–the contempt prior to investigation that mars our country. It really does not matter if he’s guilty or not. Just the accusation alone means he has to be punnished. That’s insane. Lee is a weak mayor. San Francisco deserves a mayor who is intelligent and fair–not just cowtowing to gain political favor or popularity for re-ellection. I’m sure you self-righteous accusers would have been inf the front row of the Salem Witch trials pointing fingers at the “witches” or, more recently writing all sorts of hate towards the McMartin witch trials. There’s a hell of a lot more going on to this than is written about.

    1. dave says:

The idea that he would put himself in this predicament is abhorrent. He is a politician and should be as clean as a whistle, additional he is s former cop and shouldknow, very well how to not break the law. Finally, he is a man and should honor the code that you do not hit wmen, never, never, never. He is a coward, a liar and a punk, nothing more nothing less. What an embarrassment your reply is, you sound like a damn attorney, but even an attorney would not stoop so low as to claim a political whitch hunt.SHAME SHAME SHAME.

    2. John says:

All cops in CA are BULLYS and need to be sent to prison to be raped like everyone ells. This will give them a chance to feel the justice of rape and pillage. Anyone that thinks rape and pillage will give them justice needs to join them also. WELCOME TO THE UNITED STATES OF CHINA

    3. T. D. says:

Thanks for injecting that we supposedly have a rule in this country that a person is innocent until proven guilty. First, we don’t know what happened to cause Mirkarimi to grab his wife’s arm. Think about that for a moment, that is a defensive act most times. You grab some one to stop them from … what? hittting you perhaps? Second, this “other” woman conveniently shows up as soon as this gets publicity. I wouldn’t believe her for a moment, especially since her story is exactly the same as the wife’s, she is just copy catting. period.

      1. ethel says:

You are absolutely right! She is not only a scorned ex-mistress but an aspiring actress who supplied her own film shots of herself to CBS news to try and further her career… m

    4. D. Smith says:

AlvinA, abuse doesn’t have to leave a physical wound.
The start of the fight with his wife was allegedly over her wanting to see her family.
Emotional abusers often separate those under their control from their family and friends. Terrorizing someone with the fact that you have the power to ruin their life and take away their child is abuse.
Yes, she could be lying; but I am really happy that people in power are not given a pass on being investigated and prosecuted.

  10. Claud says:

What a shame, a new sheriff and 2 cases of domestic violence???

    He should resign!

  11. Pete says:

Where did Mirkarimi go to college again? Oh, right – he’s a graduate of the Police Academy. How do we elect such morons to these positions only to embarrass us all?

  12. Carol says:

I have been in an abusive relationship. I speak from experience. ABUSERS DO NOT CHANGE…THEY DO NOT CHANGE. I was afraid that my family would find out. The last thing I wanted was for my job to find out. If his job found out and fired him, that would’ve made it worse for me. California wouldn’t have been big enough to hide me. As I’m typing this, just remembering brings chills. Coming forward is not as easy as people think. Fear paralizes you. I married a wonderful man who has shown me what a real man looks like.

  13. specialtreament says:

It was just announced the assistant DA accused of Domestic Violence over the weekend was suspended from her job till this matter is settled, it appears the sheriff is getting preferential treatment by the Mayor and the supervisors not putting him on paid leave. Any other employee of the city, cops included would of automatically been required to take a leave of absents.
