BERKELEY, Calif. (AP) — Allen Crabbe scored 19 points before injuring his right ankle in the second half to help California beat Arizona State 68-47 on Saturday.
Jorge Gutierrez added 10 points and five rebounds for the Golden Bears (18-6, 8-3 Pac 12), who bounced back with their most lopsided win of the season two days after being knocked out of first place in the conference.
Crabbe, Cal’s leading scorer and the conference freshman of the year in 2011, was hurt while diving to the floor for a loose ball. He was taken to the locker room with 14:37 remaining but returned and made a 3-pointer to give the Bears a 56-28 lead before sitting out the final nine minutes.
Kyle Cain scored 18 points and had nine rebounds for Arizona State (7-16, 3-8), which has lost 11 of 14.
