Santa Rosa Woman Dies After Getting Shot In Her Home

SANTA ROSA (CBS SF) - Police were seeking a suspect who shot and killed a woman in her home in Santa Rosa on Sunday afternoon, police said.

Officers responded to an apartment at 934 Clark St. shortly before 2 p.m. after receiving reports of a shooting.

The person who reported the shot said that they heard one shot and a woman screaming from another apartment.

A witness told police that they saw a man between 35 and 40 years old leave the victim's apartment and drive away in a silver compact car.

The woman was transported to a local hospital where she died from her injuries. Police identified her as 61-year-old Carole Marie Brooks.

Police are still searching for the shooter, and the Sonoma County Alliance is offering up to $2,500 for information leading to an arrest.
