Police Identify 2 Killed In Fairfield Shooting

FAIRFIELD (CBS SF) -- Fairfield police have identified the two victims from Wednesday's double fatal shooting as 24-year-old Vedell Jamar Chew and 18-year-old Bernard Francis Knight, a police spokesman said.

Chew, of Fairfield, and Knight, of East Palo Alto, both suffered gunshot wounds and died at the scene on El Toro Court in the Parkway Garden neighborhood of Fairfield, police Officer Cleo Mayoral said. Police found them around 4:50 p.m. Wednesday after receiving reports of shots fired.

Witnesses described a chaotic scene with gunfire in the street.

Crime scene investigators recovered many bullet casings, Mayoral said.

Police are working around the clock to identify the suspect or suspects in the shooting. A 24-hour tip line has been established for witnesses to come forward by calling (707) 428-7345.

Police are looking for a black man with an athletic build and dreadlocks. He is approximately 6 feet 1 inch tall and was last seen running from the area with a handgun, Mayoral said.

A gold Mercedes-Benz and a black Mercedes-Benz S500 with large chrome rims might be associated with the double homicide, Mayoral said.
