Santa Rosa Man Shot In Home Invasion Robbery Attempt

SANTA ROSA (CBS SF) - A Santa Rosa man was shot and critically injured in an attempted home invasion by robbers who demanded he hand over marijuana or cash, according to police.

Leslie Peoples, 23, was shot Friday after struggling with one of two suspects who entered the home he shares with his father on the 2300 block of Donna Maria Drive around 11:45 p.m., Sgt. Steve Fraga said.

Peoples' father, Rodger Peoples, told police he had been awakened by the noise of his son struggling with one of the two suspects in the home's entryway. The men, who were carrying handguns, had demanded marijuana or money.

Rodger Peoples told police he saw the suspects shoot his son and then flee the scene.

Leslie Peoples remained in critical care following emergency surgery, Fraga said.

The suspects were still being sought, and the Sonoma County Alliance has offered up to $2,500 in reward money for information leading to their arrests. Anyone with information on this case was asked to call (707) 543-3590.
