Pictures Of Calif. Education Tests Emerge On Social Media Sites

LOS ANGELES (CBS / AP) -- The state Department of Education said images of state tests have been discovered on about a dozen social networking websites, including Facebook, Twitter and Tumblr.

Department spokesman Paul Hefner said Friday that the websites have been asked to remove the images, which include pictures of test pages, blank and completed answer pages and students posing with closed answer booklets.

The tests depicted were the Standardized Testing and Reporting Program and the California High School Exit Examination, which hundreds of districts started administering this week.

Hefner said the department discovered the postings Thursday, but some of the pictures were up since Monday.

Public Instruction Superintendent Tom Torlakson on Friday issued a reminder to districts to check students for cell phone and other devices prohibited from testing classrooms.
