Some Fans Priced Out Of Season Tickets At 49ers Santa Clara Stadium
SANTA CLARA (KCBS) — As more seats go on sale Monday for the new 49ers Santa Clara Stadium, interested buyers are noticing most tickets are double the cost of a similar seat at Candlestick Park.
Aside from the cost of the 50,000 reserved seats that go on sale next week, the tickets require a one-time license fee between $2,000 and $12,000 for upper deck, end zone and top of the lower bowl seats.
Al Guido vice president of sales and services at Legends Sales & Marketing, the firm selling the packages for the stadium authority, said the cheapest seats will be $85 per game compared to Candlestick’s $39.
“The ticket price has increased in some sections and the experience— obviously is going to be completely different from Candlestick Park,” Guido said.
KCBS’ Anna Duckworth Reports:
Fremont resident Dennis Gori has had season tickets since his father gave them to him as a birthday present in 1966, back when the Niners played at Kezar stadium.
He said he was automatically priced out because of the new license fee and that the equivalent of his club seats on the 40-yard-line, 15 rows up from the middle section behind the visitor’s bench at Candlestick, has skyrocketed.
“To get the equivalent seats at the new ballpark, I would have had to pay $80,000 a piece and $375 a ticket,” Gori said.
Gori said he’s only willing to pay about half that so the seats he can afford at the new stadium won’t be nearly as good.
According to Guido, seats are only on sale to current season ticket holders who have first priority to reasonably comparable seats to what they had in Candlestick.
It’s expected after August they’ll open sales up to non-season ticket holders interested at getting seats in the new stadium.
Season ticket holders and Stadium Builders License holders will also get priority on other events like college football, international soccer and concerts that come to the new stadium.
