Man Pistol-Whipped Trying To Escape Fairfield Robbery
FAIRFIELD (CBS SF) -- A man trying to escape a robbery attempt in Fairfield was pistol-whipped and then grazed by a bullet on Thursday night, police said.
The man was in a group with three others behind an apartment complex in the 300 block of East Tabor Avenue at 9:45 p.m. when a hooded man with a gun approached them.
The suspect demanded money from the four men. At some point, one of the victims tried to run away, but the suspect ran after him.
The suspect caught up with the 21-year-old victim and hit him in the face with the gun. The two struggled briefly, and the victim managed to break free and run again.
The suspect then fired at the man and grazed his head.
The suspect ran away and the victim was taken to a hospital for
treatment once police arrived.
Police said the suspect was described as a black man between 24 and 26 years old who is about 5 feet, 10 inches tall with a medium build, black hair and brown eyes.
He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with the hood pulled over his head and tight around his face and beige or tan cargo pants.
