2 Arrested In Possible Home Invasion Robbery In Sunnyvale

SUNNYVALE (KCBS) - Authorities in Sunnyvale have made two arrests for what has been described as a possible home invasion robbery early Monday morning.

The first officers on the scene arrived shortly after 4:00 a.m. Police descended on a house on the 100 block of Florence, and shut down a number of neighboring streets near Washington Park.

"They see two individuals in the middle of the street, in the area of that particular residence and upon trying to make contact with those individuals that was when they fled the area," a police officer at the scene recounted how the events unfolded.

Those two individuals were subsequently taken into custody, one with the assistance of a police K9. The two individuals were not immediately identified.

KCBS' Mike Colgan Reports:

The area has seen something of a spike in crime as of late.

"We have had reports of home invasion robberies in the area, we don't know if this was in fact a home invasion or if it's related but we're certainly looking at that as a possibility," the officer told reporters.

"We never heard of any robberies or anything going on here," worried a woman named Maria, who said she had been a resident of the neighborhood for 4 decades. "Usually you can leave your car open at night."
