Man Arrested For Fairfield Armed Robbery

FAIRFIELD (CBS SF) -- Police arrested a man suspected of robbing a cigarette store while masked and armed with a handgun in Fairfield Tuesday afternoon.

Police arrested Marico Marcel Allen, 19, of Fairfield for armed robbery and for carrying a loaded firearm, police said.

At 2:50 p.m. police were notified that a man had robbed The Smoke Shop in the 1700 block of North Texas Street.

The suspect pointed the gun at the store's employee and demanded cash. The employee complied and the suspect fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash and cigarettes, police said.

Police spotted the suspect in the 400 block of Acacia Street and brought him into custody.

Police searched the suspect's backpack and found a large amount of cash, a knit mask and a loaded 32-caliber revolver.

Witnesses identified the suspect as the man responsible for the store robbery, police said.
