Motorcyclist Killed In Livermore Crash

LIVERMORE (CBS SF) -- A man who died in a motorcycle crash in Livermore early Wednesday morning has been identified by the Alameda County coroner's bureau as 30-year-old Daniel Aaron Vanderhoofven.

An officer on patrol found Vanderhoofven near the intersection of Murrieta Boulevard and Portola Avenue around 12:30 a.m., Livermore police Sgt. Keith Graves said.

Graves said Vanderhoofven, a Livermore resident, was believed to have been riding east on Murrieta Boulevard at a high rate of speed when he apparently lost control on a turn and struck a sound wall.

The cause of the accident was still under investigation.
