Victim Of San Jose Shooting Dies In Hospital

SAN JOSE (CBS SF) -- The victim of a shooting in San Jose on Monday died in a hospital Wednesday afternoon.

Around 1 p.m. Wednesday, 21-year-old Victor Mendoza succumbed to injuries he suffered when he was shot on Monday, police said.

The shooting was Monday's second fatal shooting and one of three homicides to occur that day.

Police responded to reports of a shooting in the 2300 block of Denair Avenue just after 4 p.m. Monday and found Mendoza suffering from at least one gunshot wound.

He was taken to a hospital, where he remained until his death.

Police had previously said that there is no indication that any of Monday's three deadly violent crimes were related.

Police said that their initial investigation reveals that suspects fired at Mendoza from a passing vehicle before fleeing the scene, but that no arrests have been made in connection with the case.
