Cyclist Hit, Killed By Truck In Antioch

ANTIOCH (CBS SF) – A 34-year-old woman was killed in a collision with a truck while riding her bicycle in Antioch early Friday morning, a police sergeant said.

The bicyclist, an Antioch resident, was heading west on East 18th Street near St. Claire Drive around 5:20 a.m. when she was struck by a Dodge pickup truck, according to Sgt. Robert Quintero.

The truck’s driver, a 50-year-old Antioch man, stopped at the scene of the crash and called 911 for help.

The bicyclist was flown to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek where she succumbed to her injuries.

Authorities have not yet released the woman’s name pending notification of her relatives.

Police said the driver of the truck involved in the crash is cooperating with their investigation and does not appear to have been under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

Anyone who witnessed the crash or has additional information is asked to call Antioch police at (925) 778-2441 or investigating Officer Robert Solari at (925) 779-6900, ext. 82372.
