Dispute Between Neighbors Turns Deadly In Alamo Gated Community

ALAMO (CBS 5) – A resident of an exclusive gated community in Alamo was arrested Thursday afternoon following a fight between his neighbor that turned deadly, authorities said.

According to the Contra Costa County Sheriff, a physical fight occurred between 59-year-old Michael Littman and his 55-year-old next door neighbor around 11 a.m. Monday on the 3000 block of Stonegate Drive.

The neighbor's wife, 59-year-old Doris Penico, was knocked to the ground during the fight and hit her head on the cement driveway, authorities said. Littman reportedly struck Penico in the altercation.

Penico was taken to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek, where she later died. Authorities said an autopsy is scheduled for Friday.

Detectives said the two neighbors, who live in the Stonegate gated community, have been involved in an ongoing dispute over property.

Deputies arrested Littman around 3:30 p.m. on Thursday at his home without incident. He is accused of homicide, assault with a deadly weapon, and felony battery. Littman has been booked into the Contra Costa County jail in Martinez, with bail set at $1 million.

The last reported murder in Alamo was more than a decade ago.
