KCBS In Depth: Chancellor Scott Retires From California's Community College District

SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) - California's Community College District has bid farewell to the retiring Dr. Jack Scott, 78, who served as Chancellor from Jan. 1, 2009 until Sept. 14, 2012.

Erik Skinner, executive vice chancellor for programs at the District, was named interim chancellor while the governing board of California's community colleges, the nation's largest system of higher education, sought a permanent replacement.

"I would think that he or she would need a knowledge of the California community colleges," he surmised about the qualities needed in a replacement. "And also be prepared to be a fierce advocate for the colleges to secure better funding, to try to improve the quality of education that we have in California community colleges."
