Santa Clara Shooting Outside Wedding Reception Leaves Man Hospitalized

SANTA CLARA (CBS SF) -- A man remained in the hospital Monday morning after being shot outside a wedding reception in Santa Clara late Sunday night, a police spokesman said.

Officers responded to reports of a shooting in the 3900 block of Freedom Circle around 11 p.m., Santa Clara police Lt. Matt Hogan said.

There, officers found a crowd gathered around a 21-year-old man who had been shot in the arm. The victim and the people with him were guests at a nearby wedding reception, Hogan said.

The man, whose wound was not considered life-threatening, was taken to a hospital and was still being treated there this morning, Hogan said.

Hogan said police did not yet have a description of the suspect and encourage anyone with information about the shooting to call Santa Clara police at (408) 615-4800.
