Fire Crew Rescues Hercules Injured Woman From 250-Foot Ravine

HERCULES (CBS SF) -- An injured woman was rescued from the base of a 250-foot ravine in Hercules Friday afternoon, according to the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District.

At 1:05 p.m., fire and rescue personnel from Rodeo-Hercules Fire Protection District, Pinole Fire Department, and Contra Costa County Fire Protection District responded to a steep ravine near 236 Oriole Court in Hercules where a woman was reportedly injured.

A witness told rescue crews that she had received a text message from the adult female victim that she had fallen into a ravine.

Firefighters climbed down the slope to the victim, provided emergency medical care and constructed a vertical rope system to pull the victim up the steep embankment, according to the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District.

The victim was brought up from the bottom of the ravine and transported via ambulance to Alta Bates Medical Center.
