1 Dead Following 3 Separate Shootings In San Francisco's Mission District

SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) – One person was killed; three others were injured in three separate shootings that occurred in San Francisco's Mission District Wednesday night.

San Francisco police Officer Albie Esparza said the first shooting occurred at 6:20 p.m. Wednesday night.

"There were two victims that were shot by two suspects at the corner of 24th and Harrison streets. One victim was fatally shot," Esparza said. "The other was shot more than once and transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries."

Police said the deceased victim was identified by the medical examiner's office as 19-year-old Cesar Bermudez. He was pronounced dead at the scene. No arrests have been made in the case.

Esparza said that about three hours later, a few blocks away on Mission Street, a man was shot in the foot. Police have not made arrests in the second shooting.

The third shooting happened around 1:30 a.m. Thursday morning as three suspects opened fire on a plain clothes police officer. One suspect was apprehended in that shooting but two others are still at large.

There have been 56 homicides in San Francisco in 2012 so far, compared to 50 in all of last year.
