Bomb Threat Evacuates Stores At Great Mall In Milpitas

MILPITAS (CBS SF) — No bomb was found after a search of the Kohl's department store at the Great Mall in Milpitas after a threat prompted an evacuation of the Kohl's and some adjacent stores Friday afternoon, police said.

Milpitas police first learned of the threat at 2:28 p.m. when a Kohl's employee reported that a bomb threat had been written on the wall of the men's restroom.

Police evacuated the building and walked through the business but did not find anything suspicious.

Bomb-sniffing dogs from the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms also searched the building but did not discover a bomb and concluded the search around 7 p.m.

Kohl's was allowed to reopen around 8 p.m. Friday night, police said.
