Morgan Hill Police Search For Man Who Chased Girl In Utility Van

MORGAN HILL (CBS SF) -- Police are searching for a man driving a white van who chased a teenage girl in Morgan Hill Friday morning and may have followed two other females in the last five weeks, the Morgan Hill Police Department said.

A 13-year-old girl told police today that while walking down Ciolino Avenue at 8:49 a.m. she noticed a white utility-style van following her and then stopping, police said.

The driver of the van, described as a "chubby" white male, short in stature and in his 30s, got out of the van and started running after her, police said.

The girl ran to a neighbor's home and police were called, but the suspect's vehicle, with two doors in the back and tinted windows, disappeared after heading south on Monterey Road, police said.

Two other victims reported being followed by someone in a white utility van in November, police said.

On Nov. 7, a 14-year-old girl said that a white utility van with red lettering in the side, driven by a white male adult in his 30s with light-colored hair, followed her for several blocks as she walked near Peak and Dewitt avenues, but police were not able to locate the vehicle.

On Nov. 24, a female told police that a white van with orange lettering on the side trailed her while she was jogging near Del Monte Avenue and Foothill Court and then drove away before police arrived to help.

Morgan Hill police on Friday issued a reminder to parents to discuss safety precautions with their children.

Police urge anyone with information about these incidents to phone the department at (408)-779-2101 or the anonymous tipline at (408) 947-7867.
