Surveillance Footage Of SF Tenderloin Dog Killing Suspect Released
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- San Francisco police Wednesday released surveillance footage of a man who allegedly killed a woman's dog during a robbery in the city's Tenderloin neighborhood last week.
The incident began about 5 p.m. in the first block of Leavenworth Street when the 30-year-old woman pulled over to look for her cellphone, police said.
The victim had gotten out of her car and gone over to the passenger side door when the suspect approached, grabbed her shirt and reached into her pockets while demanding money, according to police.
The suspect found a small amount of money and demanded more, at which point the victim's dog started barking from the car, police said.
The suspect then reached into the car, grabbed the dog and threw it onto the street before running away. The woman took the dog to a veterinarian but it died of its injuries, according to police.
Surveillance footage captured the suspect running away, and police have posted the video and still photos from the footage on the department's website.
