Body Found At Petaluma Garbage Transfer Station

PETALUMA (CBS SF) - The body of a 30-year-old man was found at the North Bay Corp.'s garbage transfer station near Petaluma Friday afternoon, a Sonoma County sheriff's lieutenant said.

The driver of one of the garbage trucks that had been emptied noticed the man's body around 2 p.m. as workers were separating the trash with a front-loader, Lt. Dennis O'Leary said.

The sheriff's office is trying to locate the man's next of kin, O'Leary said.

The man had some injuries that might have been caused by a garbage truck or the front loader, O'Leary said. The death is considered suspicious, he said.

The transfer station is owned by Novato Disposal Service.
