Northeast Storm Causing Bay Area Flight Cancellations

SAN FRANCISCO INT'L AIRPORT (CBS SF) - Stormy weather on the East Coast was affecting travel plans in and out of San Francisco International Airport Friday, airport officials said.

48 departures and 21 arrivals had been canceled by noon Friday, according to an SFO spokesman.

Flights into and out of Newark Liberty International, John F. Kennedy International, Philadelphia International and Logan International airports have been most impacted by the inclement weather, officials said.

No cancellations have been reported at Oakland International Airport.

A spokeswoman for Norman Y. Mineta San Jose International Airport was not immediately available.

Flight Cancellations Growing in Bay Area Ahead of Northeast Storm

Regardless of destination, airport officials advise checking in with airline carriers before heading to the airport Friday.

The major winter storm is moving along the Atlantic Ocean toward the Northeast. The nor'easter with blizzard conditions was expected to hit Friday night and into Saturday morning, according to the National Weather Service.
