Firefighters Respond To 2 Fires In Oakland

OAKLAND (CBS SF) -- One civilian was transported to the hospital as a medical precaution after a fire on the 5000 block of Bancroft Avenue Saturday evening, according to Oakland fire officials.

The single-alarm fire, reported around 6:30 p.m., started in the rear bedroom of a single-story home, Battalion Chief Lisa Baker said. It was contained within 12 minutes.

There were no injuries, but one resident was transported to a hospital as a medical precaution for reasons unrelated to the fire, Baker said.

An earlier fire, reported around 6 p.m. in the bathroom of a home on 62nd Avenue was also put out quickly without injury, Baker said.
