Man Robbed At Gunpoint In Parking Lot Of Palo Alto Apartment Complex

PALO ALTO (CBS SF) -- A man was robbed at gunpoint in the parking lot of an apartment complex on Tanland Drive Saturday morning, Palo Alto police said.

The victim, a man in his 40s, had just parked in the carport of the complex on the 1000 block of Tanland Drive around 8:45 a.m. when he saw a suspect pacing back and forth, according to police.

As the victim got out and began walking through the carport, the suspect approached and pointed a handgun at the victim's stomach, ordering him to get back into his car.

Once the victim was back in the car, the suspect demanded his wallet, ordered him to stay in his car, and then ran away.

The suspect was last seen running south on Greer Park through Greer Park near the basketball courts, police said.

The suspect is described as a black male in his late 20s or early 30s, about 5 feet 8 inches tall with a thin build. He was wearing a gray track suit with the hood up over his head.

Detectives are investigating possible links to the armed robbery of a man and woman walking on the 300 block of Ramona Street on Jan. 22. The suspects in both cases have similar descriptions.
