Man Fatally Stabbed In Vallejo, Suspect Arrested

VALLEJO (CBS SF) -- A man was killed in a stabbing on a Vallejo street Thursday afternoon and police quickly arrested a suspect in the homicide, police said.

The stabbing was reported at 12:52 p.m. in the 900 block of El Dorado Street.

Officers found the man, later identified as 27-year-old Christopher Ray Armstrong of Vallejo, dead from stab wounds to his upper body when they arrived.

Witnesses to the stabbing told police that a suspect ran east on Carolina Street.

Police quickly located a suspect matching the description by witnesses near the corner of Virginia and Monterey streets.

He was taken into custody and identified by police as James Samuel Alexander, 36, of Vallejo. Witnesses identified him as the suspect, police said.

Alexander will be booked on suspicion of murder, police said. Anyone with information about the case has been asked to call Vallejo police Detective Raul Munoz or Detective Fabio Rodriguez at (707) 648-4524.
