2 Fatally Shot In Vallejo In Apparent Murder-Suicide

VALLEJO (CBS SF) -- Investigators are treating the fatal shooting of a man and woman in a west Vallejo apartment on Sunday as a murder-suicide, a Vallejo police lieutenant said Monday afternoon.

The man and woman, who were in their 50s, were not married, Lt. Jim O'Connell said. The victims' names have not been released because their next of kin have not been notified, he said.

Family members asked police around 9:20 a.m. Sunday to make a welfare check at apartment No. 20 at 400 Ebbets Pass Road, Sgt. Kevin Coelho said.

While officers were responding, witnesses called police to report that a gunshot was heard inside the apartment, Coelho said.

The witnesses forced their way into the apartment and found the man and woman dead from gunshot wounds, Coelho said.

McConnell said the man and woman were found in separate rooms.

"Every indication is it is a murder-suicide," McConnell said.
