Man Tries To Abduct Boy From Elementary School In San Leandro

SAN LEANDRO (CBS SF) -- Police are searching for a male suspect who assaulted and attempted to abduct a 7-year-old student at an elementary school in San Leandro on Tuesday afternoon, according to police.

At about 1:55 p.m. a male suspect assaulted a student at Jefferson Elementary School located at 14300 Bancroft Ave., according to police.

The victim was in the hallway outside a school bathroom when the suspect grabbed him from behind.

The victim managed to bite the suspect's hand and run back to his classroom, police said.

Police were not notified of the incident until Friday, at which point police began the investigation into the incident.

The suspect is described as a male, about 18 years old with a dark complexion.

He was wearing a white t-shirt, black jeans and black shoes at the time of the incident, police said.
