Actor Billy Dee Williams Announces Star Wars Exhibit At San Jose Tech Museum

SAN JOSE (KCBS)— A galaxy far, far away will soon be coming to a science museum near you when the Star Wars exhibit comes to the Tech Museum of Innovation in San Jose.

The science exhibit based on the Star Wars films called "Star Wars, Where Science Meets Imagination" will open in October 19th this year. On Thursday actor Billy Dee Williams, who played Lando Calrissian in the original trilogy, helped announce the new sci-fi exhibit in front of the museum.

"What I'm most proud of is this; I was the original owner of the Millennium Falcon," said Williams to a crowd of Storm Troopers and Jedi Knights.

Williams said he hopes the exhibit, which features original props and costumes from all six movies, will get kids excited about science.

"I think that we should be talking to these children and training these children to go into space, "he said.

Tech Board Chair Chris DiGiorgio said he expects the exhibit will also appeal to adults.

"This is sort of a nerd, date-night-type thing too, so I expect there will be quite a few from the adult crowd coming to this type of exhibit," he said.

Fans can expect to see a Yoda puppet, as well as C-3P0 and R2-D2.
