Parents Allege Teacher Abused Autistic Students At Antioch School

ANTIOCH (CBS/AP) -- The parents of three autistic San Francisco Bay area kindergarten students allege a teacher slapped, pinched and verbally abused the kids.

They filed a federal civil rights lawsuit on Wednesday against the Antioch school district and Mno Grant Elementary School teacher Theresa Allen-Caulboy.

According to the Contra Costa Times, the lawsuit accuses the 55-year-old Allen-Caulboy of backhand-slapping one of the kids several times, picking his nose and forcing him to eat it and driving her knee into his back while restraining him.

District Superintendent Donald Gill said in a statement Allen-Caulboy is no longer a district employee. He declined further comment.

Antioch police have presented an abuse case against Allen-Caulboy involving one student, but she has not been charged.

A call to Allen-Caulboy by the Times was not returned.
