Woman Allegedly Kills Elderly Father In Violent Confrontation At Fremont Home

FREMONT (CBS SF) - A woman has been arrested on suspicion of murder for allegedly killing her 73-year-old father in a violent struggle at his home in Fremont on Thursday evening, police said Friday.

Fremont police officers who responded to a disturbance at the father's home in the 37800 block of Argyle Road at about 7:15 p.m. Thursday found him lying on the kitchen floor in a pool of blood, police said.

Officers then found the 28-year-old daughter in the home's bathroom and took her into custody after a short struggle, according to police.

The father was pronounced dead at a hospital a short time later.

Police said a preliminary investigation indicates that the daughter arrived at the home in violation of a restraining order and got into a violent argument with her father, prompting her mother, who is also the wife of the victim, to call police.

Police said it appears that the man died from blunt trauma that he suffered during the altercation with his daughter.

Police said they are not yet releasing the names of the father and daughter.

The daughter is being held at Santa Rita Jail in Dublin.

Police Detective Bill Veteran said she probably won't be formally charged and brought to court until Tuesday.

Investigators are asking anyone with information about the incident to call the Fremont Police Department at (510) 790-6972.
