San Jose Office Building Evacuated Over Suspicious Package

SAN JOSE (CBS SF) - Police allowed people to return to an evacuated office building in San Jose Wednesday afternoon after learning that a suspicious package found there Wednesday morning did not contain anything dangerous.

The Sobrato Center for Nonprofits at 1400 Parkmoor Avenue near Interstate Highway 280 was ordered evacuated after a woman reported seeing the package at about 9:25 a.m., San Jose police spokesman Officer Albert Morales said.

The San Jose Police Department's bomb squad examined the package and determined it was not dangerous but also found a written note attached to it, Morales said.

Police, who declined to disclose the contents of the note, do not yet know who placed the package there or why, Morales said.

Those who were evacuated from the building were allowed to return early Wednesday afternoon, Morales said.
