2 Die In Highway 4 Crash With Tow Truck

BRENTWOOD (CBS SF) — Two people were killed in a collision Saturday on state highway 4 in Byron when their car was broadsided by a loaded flatbed tow truck at eastbound Marsh Creek Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.

A Subaru Impreza was traveling south on Highway 4 around 1:30 p.m. when it made a left turn onto eastbound Marsh Creek Road, directly into the path of an oncoming northbound tow truck, according to CHP Officer Jonathan Fransen.

The passenger of the Subaru, an adult female, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver, an adult male, was taken by helicopter to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek, but died of his injuries there.

The tow truck’s driver and passenger were not injured.

The Subaru’s driver and passenger have not yet been positively identified, Fransen said.
