Body Found In Water Near Sausalito Yacht Harbor

SAUSALITO (CBS SF) – A man’s body was found in the water near the Clipper Yacht Harbor in Sausalito on Monday evening, police and fire officials said.

The Southern Marin Fire Protection District responded at 6:21 p.m. to a report of a body in the water in the Richardson Bay off of Clipper Yacht Basin 2, fire Capt. Charles Casalnuovo said.

The body was about 30 feet from the dock and was recovered by the fire district’s Fireboat Liberty, Casalnuovo said.

The body was turned over to the Sausalito Police Department until the Marin County coroner’s office arrived.

Sausalito police Lt. Kurtis Skoog confirmed that the body of a white man in his 50s was recovered at about 6:30 p.m. He said there were no signs of foul play.

Marin County coroner’s Lt. Keith Boyd said there was no further information Tuesday morning.
