2 Hurt In 3-Alarm Redwood City Apartment Fire

REDWOOD CITY (CBS SF) -- Two people sustained minor injuries during a three-alarm fire burning in a Redwood City apartment complex Wednesday morning, according to fire officials.

Fire officials said firefighters were taking a defensive approach to fighting the fire at 644 Oakside Ave. and that all firefighters were working on extinguishing the blaze from the outside of the building.

The fire, located across the street from Fair Oaks Elementary School, was reported at 5:15 a.m., according to fire officials.

The residents of all six apartment units were accounted for and two residents had sustained minor injuries, according to fire officials.

It was unknown what caused the fire and the damage is still being assessed, but Deputy Chief Stan Maupin said the building appears to have been destroyed.

Classes at Fair Oaks Elementary were not affected by the fire, a school employee said.
