Airline Offers 'All-You-Can-Fly' Service Between San Carlos And Burbank

SAN CARLOS (KCBS) — Surf Air, a Santa Monica-based company and the first membership airline to offer all-you-can-fly service, launched Wednesday offering flights between San Carlos and Burbank.

The cost of the unlimited flights will run customers $1,350 a month and already has 4,500 people on the waiting list to ride the Pilatus PC-12 aircraft that is only a six seater.

Surf Air CEO Wade Eyerly said the one thing you can't buy is time.

"At some point you're willing to spend money to buy back that time and for a subset of people who are not just frequent flyers, but who are frequent commuters, they're moving back and forth with great frequency. This is going to work. Anywhere high-speed rail works, we work, but the infrastructure is already here," Eyerly said.

Investor Mike Wallace was on the first flight south and called it an incredible deal.

"I usually fly last minute, so it's $440 round trip—even on Southwest and Virgin America is probably more. I fly three times a month and then if you add on the ability to bring a guest, it's a layup," he said.

Surf Air is hoping to add service to Sonoma, Sacramento and Tahoe by the end of the year.
