SAN FRANCISCO (Bleacher Report) — When the San Francisco Giants had to defend their World Series championship in 2011 for the first time since moving out West, they failed to even reach the postseason for a myriad of reasons.
So far in 2013, things are starting to unfold in an all too familiar way for Giants fans.
This year, while the injury bug hasn’t bit nearly as hard, injuries are starting to happen that are eerily similar to 2011.
While the injuries are mounting, this isn’t the only reason for the Giants’ recent struggles. Pitching, which has been the backbone of the team for the past five seasons, has been preventing them from going on any sort of run this season.
