Kenwood Man Arrested For Intentionally Hitting Man With Pickup Truck

KENWOOD (CBS SF) -- A Kenwood man was arrested for intentionally hitting another man with his pickup truck during an altercation Sunday afternoon, Sonoma County sheriff's officials said.

Deputies responded to a report of an assault with a car in the first block of Adobe Canyon Road in Kenwood about 4:20 p.m., officials said.

When deputies arrived, they found a man suffering from blunt force trauma and several stab wounds to his abdomen, according to sheriff's officials.

An investigation revealed the suspect - 35-year-old Matthew Christian, of Kenwood - got into an altercation with the victim. It ended when Christian got into his pickup truck and struck the victim, officials said.

Christian then fled the area in his pickup truck, according to sheriff's officials.

The stab wounds were self-inflicted, officials said. The victim was transported to a hospital and was in serious condition.

Investigators learned that Christian and the victim were acquaintances.

Deputies spotted the fleeing vehicle heading toward Sonoma on state Highway 12 and conducted a stop, and arrested Christian, according to officials.

Christian was booked into county jail on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon.

The incident remained under investigation.
