300 Attend Service For SF Socialite Found Dead In Nevada

MINDEN, Nev. (CBS/AP) -- More than 300 friends and family members paid tribute to Amber Marie Bently, a San Francisco socialite and businesswoman found dead in Nevada last month.

Gardnerville's Christopher Bently spoke lovingly of his wife at the service Saturday at Grace Community Church.

He said his wife was "the most incredible person" he ever met. He acknowledged her bouts with mental illness in recent years, but said she "battled and persisted" through it.

Her grandmother, Ruth Barnett, said Amber Bently "was always a ray of sunshine with a loving and caring spirit."

The body of the 34-year-old Bently was discovered July 19 in her Gardnerville apartment. Authorities say she had been dead several weeks before her body was found, and there was no sign of foul play.

She had been living alone in the apartment since April 17, and had separated from her husband.

Christopher Bently heads several companies founded by his late father, Donald Bently, a prominent engineer, philanthropist and businessman who died last year at the age of 87.
