Searchers Find Body That May Be Missing San Rafael Hiker

SEQUOIA NATIONAL PARK (CBS/AP) -- Searchers have found a body in Sequoia National Park near where they had been looking for a missing hiker.

National Park Service spokesman Matt Fagan says Saturday that officials have temporarily suspended the search for Johnnie Jean Daniel until the body can be identified. The 65-year-old San Rafael woman was reported missing Thursday by a family member after she failed to return from a hike.

The body was found about 1,000 feet above Monarch Lake.

Daniel was reported to be an experienced hiker. However, Fagan says cold temperatures in the 8,000- to 13,000 foot elevations have been challenging.
