(CBS SF/AP) - Usher's 5-year-old son has been released from an Atlanta hospital after nearly drowning in a pool.

A lawyer for the boy's mother said Tuesday that Usher Raymond V was released from Children's Healthcare of Atlanta-Scottish Rite on Sunday. Lawyer Angela Kinley said Oakland-native Tameka Foster Raymond saw her son at school yesterday when he attended orientation for the new year.

The boy was photographed Monday leaving an indoor play center with his grandmother, TMZ reports. In the photos, his right arm can be seen wrapped in what appears to be a bandage.

Police say Usher Raymond V fell to the bottom of a pool behind his father's Atlanta home on Aug. 5 and became stuck in the drain.

A housekeeper tried unsuccessfully to free him. A contractor doing work at the home pulled him from the pool and performed CPR.

On Friday, a judge dismissed an emergency request by Usher's ex-wife seeking temporary custody of their two children.

The Grammy-winning R&B singer thanked the two male employees who were able to free his son from the pool, calling the men "true heroes."
