The Calling's Alex Band Says He Was Abducted, Beaten

(CBS NEWS) - Alex Band from the rock group The Calling is recovering after a brutal confrontation over the weekend.

The 32-year-old vocalist says he was taking a stroll on the streets of Detroit suburb Lapeer, Mich., when a pair of men inside a blue mini-van abducted and beat him, Fox affiliate WJBK reported.

Band alleges that his two assailants also robbed him before dropping him off at an undisclosed location. The lead singer was discovered a short time later by his worried band-mates, before being taken to an area hospital where he was treated and released.

Local police are investigating the incident. According to a statement releaed by Sgt. Craig Gormley of the Lapeer City Police Department, "The victim, a member of the band 'The Calling,' reported being forced into a blue-colored minivan-style vehicle between 3 a.m. and 4 a.m. by two male subjects."

Along with Ryan Cabrera, The Calling is scheduled to perform at the Red Devil Lounge in San Francisco on November 20.
