Suspected DUI Crash Critically Injures Woman In Danville

DANVILLE (CBS SF) -- Police have identified a woman who was critically injured when she was hit by a suspected drunken driver in Danville on Monday night.

Police said 53-year-old Danville resident Diana Gregory was walking near Camino Tassajara and Tassajara Lane around 9 p.m. when a driver heading east on Camino Tassajara struck her, police said.

Gregory was taken to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek with life-threatening injuries. She remained hospitalized in critical condition Tuesday afternoon.

Police said the driver, 50-year-old Samuel Herrick of Danville, was arrested on suspicion of DUI causing injury and was booked into county jail in Martinez, where he is being held on $50,000 bail.

The victim wasn't carrying any ID at the time of the collision, and police were initially unable to identify her.
