Woman, Kids Hurt When Car Crashes Down Embankment Near Healdsburg

HEALDSBURG (CBS SF) - A 37-year-old woman and two 5-year-old children were injured when their vehicle went off a road and down an embankment west of Healdsburg Friday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The crash was reported around 8 a.m. on West Dry Creek Road.

The roof of the vehicle was removed to free the three occupants, who were then taken to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital, CHP Officer Kerri Post said.

One of the children sitting in the back seat suffered a leg injury, Post said. The CHP described the incident as a major-injury crash.

The car was traveling too fast around a curve on West Dry Creek Road in unincorporated Sonoma County, Post said. The tires on the right side of the vehicle hit dirt and the driver overcorrected, Post said.

The vehicle went off the road, hit a tree and went down an embankment, Post said.
