SUISUN CITY (CBS SF) — Police arrested a suspect Wednesday in connection with a shooting in downtown Suisun City on Saturday.

Fairfield resident Michael Jackson, 29, was arrested Wednesday night by a Solano County SWAT team, according to Suisun City police.

Jackson was arrested on suspicion of shooting a man after an argument in a parking lot early on Saturday morning, police said.

Officers responded to reports of a shooting in the 600 block of Main Street at about 1:15 a.m., according to police.

Arriving police found a man suffering a gunshot wound who was being helped by friends.

According to the police investigation, a verbal exchange occurred between the victim and the suspect, police said.

Following the argument, the gunman got into his car and shot the victim once in the abdomen as he drove away in a dark four-door sedan, police said.

Through interviews with an eyewitness and security camera footage at a local establishment, police were able to identify Jackson as the suspect in the shooting.

A search of Jackson’s residence revealed the handgun believed to be used in the shooting, police said.

Jackson was detained by police and booked into the Solano County Jail for attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon.

The victim is in stable condition following surgery, police said.

Anyone who might have further information about the incident was asked to contact the Suisun City Police Department at (707) 421-7373.
