Bay Area Judge Announces Sex Predator To Be Released In SoCal

LOS ANGELES (CBS / AP) — The Los Angeles County district attorney's office said a Santa Clara County judge has announced that serial rapist Christopher Hubbart potentially could live in the Antelope Valley community of Lake Los Angeles when he's released from prison.

The 62-year-old Hubbart has admitted raping 38 women in California between 1971 and 1982.

A statement from the DA's office say Judge Gilbert Brown made the announcement Friday at a hearing and scheduled a formal hearing in 45 days.

District Attorney Jackie Lacey says her office will work with law enforcement to ensure Hubbart is closely monitored.

In August, the California Supreme Court denied Los Angeles County's appeal to stop his release and his specific relocation to Los Angeles County, which could occur by December.

Lake Los Angeles is adjacent to Palmdale.
