Barbecue Blamed For San Rafael Brush Fire
SAN RAFAEL (CBS SF) - Firefighters responded to a vegetation fire that appears to have been sparked by a barbeque in an encampment in San Rafael on Monday afternoon, according to a fire chief.
The fire was reported shortly after 2:30 p.m. Monday in a field just east of the 2900 block of Kerner Boulevard, San Rafael Fire Chief Chris Gray said.
The fire appears to have been sparked by a barbecue grill that had been placed near dry brush, Gray said. The small blaze charred about a quarter-acre and no one was injured.
Property owners and city officials are continuing to address issues related to encampments to ensure a safe community, Gray said.
